What is Tego?

Tego is a magnetic safety wall outlet designed to make homes safer, more accessible, and more convenient. It helps prevent electrical injuries, reduces tripping hazards, and makes plugging in easier for parents, older adults, and people with disabilities.

How does Tego make my home safer?

Tego was designed with safety at the core.

Our magnetic outlet includes a spring-loaded internal barrier that blocks access to live electricity. Power flows only when the Tego magnetic adapter is properly connected, helping prevent electrical injuries from curious little hands.

The magnetic connection also releases with sideways force, which can help prevent tripping hazards by detaching safely instead of pulling down lamps, devices, or the person who tripped on the cable.

Is Tego a child-safety product?

Yes. Tego is designed to help prevent electrical injuries and keep children from accessing live outlets. The internal barrier remains fully closed unless the magnetic adapter is aligned and inserted, helping prevent objects or fingers from entering the outlet.

How does Tego improve accessibility?

Tego helps make everyday living easier for people with limited mobility, visual impairments, dexterity challenges, or difficulty bending or reaching.

Benefits include:

  • Easier alignment: The magnetic design helps guide the plug into place, even in low light or hard-to-reach areas.
  • Less bending, reaching, or gripping: You can bring the adapter toward the outlet and the magnet does the work. Disconnecting is just as easy. The magnetic breakaway means you don’t need a firm grip or significant pulling force to unplug a device.
  • Reduced fall risk: The breakaway magnetic connection helps prevent tripping hazards.
  • Supports independence: Tego helps older adults age in place safely by making everyday tasks more manageable.

What types of outlets does Tego work with?

Tego is compatible with standard U.S. Type B outlets (three-prong grounded outlets).

It does not work with:

  • GFCI outlets (commonly found in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, and outdoor areas)
  • Outdoor outlets
  • Non-standard or international outlet types

Is Tego safe to use with high-power appliances?

Tego is designed for everyday household devices and most small-to-medium-sized appliances. Many higher-wattage appliances (like air fryers, blenders, or toaster ovens) are typically run for short periods, and Tego has been tested to handle these types of real-world “duty cycles” safely.

However, Tego is not recommended for:

  • Appliances that run for long or continuous cycles at very high wattage (typically 1500W or greater)
  • Stationary heavy appliances (refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers)
  • Outdoor equipment
  • Power tools or extension cords
  • Any device requiring uninterrupted power for medical or life-support reasons

What devices work well with Tego?

Great use cases include:

  • Lamps, TVs, monitors
  • Phone/laptop chargers & small electronics
  • Fans, air purifiers
  • Coffee makers, toasters, air fryers, blenders (short-duration use)
  • Small kitchen appliances that cycle on/off
  • Seasonal items like holiday lights

These everyday items are well within Tego’s tested performance range.

Why aren’t large appliances recommended?

Large appliances pull high, continuous power and aren’t typically moved or unplugged - meaning they don’t benefit from Tego’s magnetic breakaway design. These appliances also operate near the limits of a home’s electrical circuit for long periods, which isn’t ideal for a universal magnetic adapter system.

Tego is optimized for household devices that users plug, unplug, and interact with regularly

Can Tego be used outdoors?

No. Tego is not rated for outdoor use.

Is the installation DIY?

Yes. Tego is designed to be plug-and-play and easily installs in seconds.

  • Just plug the Tego wall plate into your existing outlet.
  • Optional: You can secure it with a single screw using a regular household screwdriver. This optional step helps prevent children from removing the wall plate, but isn’t required for functionality.

No wiring and no electrician needed.

Do I need special adapters?

Yes. Each device you want to use with Tego needs a Tego magnetic adapter, which attaches to the end of any standard plug.

Every Tego outlet comes with one wall plate and two corresponding magnetic adapters.

Our bundles include:

  • Single Pack: 1 wall plate + 2 adapters
  • 3-Pack (Tego Essentials Bundle): 3 wall plates + 6 adapters
  • 10-Pack (Tego Whole Home Bundle): 10 wall plates + 20 adapters

This ensures you have everything you need to start using Tego right out of the box.

What certifications does Tego have?

Tego is in the process of completing testing and certification through SGS, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).

We will also be obtaining FCC certification for electromagnetic compliance.

When will my pre-order ship?

Tego is currently in the final stages of manufacturing and safety certification.

We expect to begin fulfilling pre-orders in Q1 of 2026.

Customers who pre-order will be the first to receive units once production begins.

Can Tego be built directly into the wall like a normal outlet?

You’re thinking ahead!

A built-in, hardwired version of Tego is in the works, but it’s not available just yet. Our first product is a simple retrofit solution designed to work with the outlets you already have, no wiring or electrician needed.

Our patented technology also covers a fully integrated version that could be used in new construction or as a complete outlet replacement in the future.
